How to Book an Appointment at Priory Medical Centre
At Priory Medical Centre, our goal is to make sure every patient receives the right care, at the right time, with the right clinician. To help us do this safely and efficiently, we use a Total Triage Model for all Acute appointment requests.
This means every request is assessed by our clinical team so we can offer you the most appropriate appointment based on your symptoms, needs, and urgency.
Appointment requests can be split into 2 categories based on their clinical urgency – Acute & Routine. Below is a quick guide on what an Accute or Routine Appointment is:
Acute
An Acute Appointment is for conditions that generally require a Same-Day or Urgent Response. These are normally new or worsening helath conditions that need attention soon.
It should be noted that what a patient considers Acute may not necessarily be medically Acute.
Routine
A Routine Appointment is often an appointment booked into a pre planned clinic, such as Nursing Clinics, Blood Taking Clinics, Family Planning Clinics.
Routine & Acute Appointments can be booked with any member of our team, including a GP, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Paramedic, Clinical Pharmacist, Nurse, Healthcare Assistant, Pharmacy Technician or Social Prescriber. A full list of the team we have available at Priory Medical Centre can be found here – Practice Team « Priory Medical Centre
The majority of our appointments are available at either Brese Avenue Surgery or Priory Medical Centre on Monday – Friday between 08:00 am & 6:30pm. We do also offer some appointments during Extended Access, with more details on this lower on this page.
We offer both Face to Face Appointments (if clinically appropriate & required) & Telephone Consultations for our patients.
Below is a clear guide on how to book both Acute and Routine appointments.
At Priory Medical Centre, we understand that sometimes you need to see a Healthcare Professional (HCP) quickly for a new or worsening medical concern. These are known as Acute (urgent) Appointments and are designed to help you access care when you need it most.
How to Request an Acute Appointment:
Submit an Online Consultation via Accurx: The fastest way to request an acute appointment is through our online consultation system, Accurx. Simply visit our website and click on the “Contact us online” button to submit your request. When completing the form, you will be asked to provide some information regarding your condition to enable the Triaging Clinician to allocate your appointment request to the most appropriate person and in an appropriate timeframe. Please provide as much detail as possible to help us triage your concern appropriately, as any missing information or lack of information may require us to ask for additional information prior to triaging appropriately.
Please ensure any requests for an Acute Appointment are submitted as early as possible to enable us to triage your request as soon as possible.
Please also keep an eye on your NHS App, text messages or emails for a response to any submitted online consultations as further information maybe requested or provided.
Patients who can access the Online Consultation Form should submit via the Online route. This will enable our team to support those who cannot access the Online Consultation Form better.
By Phone: If you are unable to use Accurx, you can call our reception team on 01926 293711. Our phone lines open at 08:30am, and a receptionist will complete the online consultation for you. Once submitted, the request is then reviewed by the Triaging Clinician and your request will be allocated to the most appropriate clinician.
By Visiting Reception: If you attend either Priory Medical Centre or Brese Avenue, our friendly reception team will complete the same online consultation form for you. Once submitted, this form will then follow the same process as if you submitted it yourself.
Once your request is reviewed, our clinical triage team will determine the most appropriate course of action, which may include a same-day telephone or face-to-face appointment with a GP or other healthcare professional (HCP). Please note, when submitting an online consultation, patients should be available on the same day to take an initial phone call. When submitting the Online Consultation, patients can advise the best time of day for contact, which we will try and honour as best as possible, however this is not always guaranteed. Whilst we do deal with the majority of requests on the same day, if the clinical triage team decide to pre-book an appointment for another day, then a message will be sent to the patient advising when this pre-booked appointment has been made for.
Important to know
Not all urgent problems require a same‑day appointment
Sometimes the safest and most appropriate appointment may be scheduled in advance.
Your appointment may not be with a GP
We have a highly skilled multidisciplinary team including Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists, Paramedic Practitioners, Mental Health Practitioners, and more.
You will always be booked with the clinician best suited to help you, however should that clinician need support and assistance or advice, then this can be requested from a GP should there be a need.
If your condition is life-threatening, always call 999 or visit your nearest A&E department.
We are here to help – please don’t delay if you need urgent medical advice.
